The Art of Mingling - Third Annual

President Rod introduced Melissa Growden, Director of Career Services at Siena Heights University, instructed members who agreed to volunteer at the Art of Mingling presentation immediately following today’s regular meeting on their specific roles as students from Jackson College, SHU and Adrian College arrived. Some 60+ students were in attendance along with 10 club members.

And, what a great program it was. President Rod gave welcoming remarks along with Mayor Jim Berryman. Rotary members were asked to sit at individual tables and provide their expert advice to the students they sat with throughout the one hour and a half program. Melissa and two students, Danielle and Catherine, presented the information and mirrored some examples. Students were given a couple of written exercises and an opportunity to “mingle” while applying what they learned.

Yours Truly wrapped up the event by mentioning how important the information that was shared and that to be effective, they needed to practice and apply those valuable principles. This is the 3rd year our club has hosted this event. Thanks to all who volunteered!

UPDATES
PETS Conference - Yours Truly attended the President-Elect Training Session (PETS) in Kalamazoo last week and returned with a ton of great information! All incoming club presidents in Michigan and part of Indiana attended – about 300 in all. Below is a group photo just prior to the conclusion of last week’s conference in Kalamazoo.

Member Resignations - Members Bobbi Dawes and Vera Alvarez announced that this was their final meeting as Adrian Noon Rotarians. We are sad they will be leaving the club. Bobbie served as a board member and she and her hubby, Gary, are headed for Farmington Hills, MI where he has taken on a pastorate and she will be working at anther Hospice in the area. Vera will be leaving Clift Pontiac to go to Olmstead, IL a suburb of Chicago where she will be doing recruiting. We wish you both the very best, ladies. The club won’t quite be the same without you!

DisCon 2016 - President Rod reminded those first timers interested in attending this year’s DisCon that subsidies are available through our club ($250) as well as the District ($150). Please contact any club officer if you are interested. Rod mentioned again that our club will host a hospitality suite at the conference. We need volunteers! See flyer for the event below.

New Club PR Chair - Yours Truly announced that member Amy Pyle has accepted the invitation to be the club’s Chair for Public Relations! Amy is employed by the Daily Telegram and has been doing much work on the club’s website.
