UPDATES
New Junior Rotarians - Emily and Gabriella will replace Madison and Maddy for the Month of November as Junior Rotarians.
 
Share the Warmth – Jean Pfister and Nate Smith provided more info on this project that both our club and the AM Club have committed to. Our clubs will alternate once a month every other month on the second Sunday of that month to take and serve food at Share the Warmth’s location which is the old Moose club across from the Adrian Plaza. Approximately 50 people go to the facility for dinner. Club volunteers will arrive at 6pm ant be ready to serve food at 6:30pm. The AM club will serve this Sunday evening, November 10 and our club will serve on Sunday, December 8.
 
E-Waste Event – Nathan Salazar thanked those who participated in the event. A total of 47,000 pounds of technology was dropped off for disposal!!!
 
Veterans Day Event – Kathy Williams announced that you can drop off money in front of WLEN studios from 5am-7pm. Last year they raised $30,000! Midwest Energy is a sponsor and TLC will contribute $50 for every $100 gift made! Join the “Happy 100 Club” on Monday! Last year TLC donated $8,000!
 
Wreath Sales –They will all be delivered to Goodwill on November 26th for members to drop by and pick up.
 
Cutting Board Fundraiser – Luke Barnett announced a program to benefit the Rotary Woodworking Warriors through the sale of beautiful wood cutting boards (musical-grade, harvested curly maple with walnut accents) in small, medium and large sizes and $50, $75 and $100 respectively. This is an effort to sustain the Woodworking Warriors program this coming year since the club contributed $35,000 to it the very first year. The vets in the workshop, Luke said, came up with the cutting board idea. Each board comes with a can of cutting board finish (bees wax) to preserve the surface.
 
 
RI Foundation Update - Committee chair, Mike Olsaver, told members that our goal this Rotary year was $5,700 and thus far have raised only $1,300. We have until June 30th, 2020 to meet the goal so that we can continue to be eligible for district grants.
 
Comstock Riverwalk Tree Sale – The $50 trees are completely sold out! There are, however, some $25 trees left. They are going for a Guinness World Record he said!

Salvation Army Bell Ringing – We are looking for a Friday in December we could ring the bell again.
 
 
DATES TO REMEMBER
November 14-16 – R.Y.L.A – Thanks to Gerry Burg, our club has selected and paid registrations for 2 high schools students to attend this annual leadership event. Thanks to Nate Smith and Kevin Keller for agreeing to take them there and bring them home!

November 20Lync-Up - This is a networking and mentoring, community collaboration project. The workshop will be at the Adrian Armory Events Center on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The purpose of Lync-Up is to connect members of the professional community with students from area high schools and institutions of higher education to increase access to mentoring and networking opportunities.
 
 
November 20Networking Event - Mark announced the Networking Event thanks to a collaboration of our club, the Town & Gown Committee, and Chamber of Commerce. It will include a luncheon and a speaker and involve high school and college students from the county. Mark said that they need community leaders to turn out (that’s – Rotarians!) Since this is a Wednesday, there will not be a regular meeting the following Thursday the 21st. Invite a friend. You can register through the Chamber of Commerce website.
 
The event will be at the Armory on Wednesday Nov 20, from 11:30-1:30. The adult participants will pay $12 for lunch. Tables will be mixed. A presenter will do a short program, in addition to a networking activity in the room.
 
November 21 - NO MEETING since we'll be meeting at the Armory on Wednesday November 20 (see above)
 
November 27 – Joint Rotary/Kiwanis Luncheon – Our club is hosting this event this year (12 noon – 1pm) and a sign-up sheet was passed around. We are expecting close to 80-90 people so will probably be held in the ballroom at The Center. More info coming.
 
December 8 – The first Sunday that we serve individuals at Share the Warmth (formerly the Moose Club) across from the Adrian Plaza.
