Lenawee Bike Tour - Final Preparations

Chairperson Chip Moore said that we were coming to the finish line for the first ever Lenawee Bike Tour as he stood in front of one of 4 banners that will be displayed at Saturday’s Tour which will kick off at 8am at St. John’s Lutheran Church at the corner of M52 and Valley Road near the Kiwanis Trail.

Some great sponsors, Chip said, have made this event possible. What began as a 2-day event has been narrowed down to one since so few bikers registered for the Sunday event at Heritage Park. We are still very pleased with the 50-60 registrants who will be participating in Saturday’s event. Early registration will begin tomorrow afternoon from 6-9pm in front of the Adrian Armory. Registration on Saturday morning will begin at 6:30am with those bikers participating in the 60 and 100 mile event taking off first about 8am.

A packet will be given to all bikers and consist of a tour number, wrist band coordinating with the route they signed up for, coupons for free drinks and food and a goodie bag that various sponsors contributed to. Several stations manned by the Boy Scouts of America thanks to Jacob Maxson will be placed along the routes where bikers can stop for water, apples and nutrition bars. A group of young boys from Maurice Spear will be at MIS to handout various items to bikers entering the grounds.

The event on Saturday, Chip said should be wrapped up by 2pm. He predicted beautiful weather, sunny and in the 80's! He thanked everyone who has volunteered and worked on the committee. A special thanks to Chip and Ted Keating for all of their work on the event as a ton of work has gone into making it hugely successful its very first year!

Salvation Army Bell Ringing – President Nate thanks everyone who braved the cold last Friday to ring the bell for the Salvation Army in front of Hobby Lobby!
The Simay’s – Greg and Marje announced that they not only sold their home here but purchased on in California soon. We will miss them terribly but wish them both the very best!
Christmas Wreath Sales – The wreaths (all 516 of them!) are scheduled for delivery to the northeast corner of the Madison Schools property the morning of November 21st. If you can help unload, please be there by 7:30am that morning. From there, the truck will head to Goodwill (at 1357 Division) at about 9am – the location that members can drop by and pick up their orders beginning about 10am and throughout the day to about 4:30pm. Nathan said he would also be there the morning of the next day for latecomers. President Nate passed around a sign-up sheet. Thanks to Jesse Pizana, Nathan Salazar, Nate Smith and Yours Truly who volunteered to assist.
The Great Pasty Project – President Nate polled members to see if they wanted to help the Adrian Morning Club with this next January. A majority of members agreed. Please wait for more info.
Comstock Christmas Tree River Walk Project – Let’s all attend the official lighting on December 1st.

November 21Nathan Salazar announced that the wreaths will arrive at Madison Schools and will then go over to Goodwill where members can pick the ones up they have orders for. Some of the larger orders will be delivered, Nathan said. Let Nate know if you have any special requests or needs. Members who would like to assist at Madison Schools should arrive by 7:30am at the northeast corner of the school. If you can give 1 to 2 hours that day that will be great. We’ll be boxing a number of individual wreaths also that morn.
