Chuck Davis missed his calling! He should be a stand-up comedian and a motivational speaker. He took time today to tell us about himself and here’s what we learned: He is 53 years old, born in Virginia and raised in Southfield, Michigan and, contrary to what most people think, he was not born in a taxi cab but a real hospital!
He played high school football as a running back and linebacker at Plymouth/Canton, graduated from Adrian College on a scholarship and has a degree in Business and Psychology. He worked at Merillat’s in Adrian for about 5 years and UPS to pay his way to school. Toward the end of college he worked at Herrick and Bixby Hospital as an in-house counselor. He currently has a Series 7 Broker’s license and was going to go to New York but “God had other plans”, he said. While at Herrick Hospital he met his first wife. They had 5 children – Zachary, Zane, Zariah, Zoey and a dog named Zeke!
“I have been blessed beyond words”, Chuck admitted, and that people have 160 reasons to trust him – which represents $165M in home sales since he began his real estate career. Yet, he wished that he had King Solomon’s wisdom go along with that which, he said, was another story! He now has six pets – 3 cavaliers and 3 cats. His passions and hobbies include bow hunting and even took his lunch breaks and go 15 feet up in a tree to hunt, he said. He hasn’t done that in a while because of his brain tumor.
Chuck said he also loves to teach Sunday school going all the way back to his days in Ogden. He said he accepted Jesus when he was just 8 years old. He is also a professional Karate instructor. He is skilled in the deadly Japanese Karate, he said. He is now in Tai Kwando and even took time to show audience members the art of Key Eye. That is, when someone attacks you, take your car keys and hit them in the eye!!!
Twenty years ago doctors found he had a brain tumor. He owned his own real estate company at the time employing 30 agents and he noticed that when he tried to play basketball, he noticed a flicker in his eye. After a successful eight and a half hour surgery, he woke up and said “Thank you, Jesus”. He said he is a firm believer in “God’s will be done” and he has a passion to this day to do God’s work. He concluded by saying that “Rotary is the essence and the vehicle to be all that I can be because of God’s leading me”!
Kudos to DG Rick - President Nate gave District Governor Rick kudos today and saying that in his 35+ years as a Rotarian he cannot recall another governor who has worked harder for Rotary and for showing the enormous support for this cub! Here, here!
Presidential Citation – President Nate proudly announced that all requirement have been satisfied for this recognition thanks to the addition of 3 new members to our club who were inducted by Governor Rick at today’s meeting.

Lenawee Now Square One Idea Competition Ad – President Nate thanked the Murray Foundation for underwriting the ad that appeared in a recent issue of the Daily Telegram mentioning that our club supported it.
Neighbors of Hope Garden Worker Bee – President Nate personally thanked all members who volunteered to work on Saturday, June 2nd at the Neighbors of Hope garden.
Pathways Project – President Nate thanked Kathryn S. For helping last Saturday.
Bike Tour 2018 – The next meeting will be June 13th at the Armory at 5:30pm.
RI Foundation – Mike Olsaver announced that we have surpassed our goal of $5,600 by quite an amount.
Rotarian of the Year Award – A selection has been made. Thanks to all who nominated someone. Award to be presented at the Changeover Dinner on June 21 at the Armory.

Sign-up sheet will be passed around again at our meeting on the 14th. Kathy will be doing a live broadcast with WLEN that day as well.
June 21 – Joint Changeover Dinner -with the Morning Club and to be held at the Adrian Armory. More info coming. Kathye said she will be sending everyone an e-mail asking who will be attending and if members will be bring their spouses or a guest. The meal this year will be catered. Governor Rick will be in attendance! Awards will be presented, new board members introduced, a Paul Harris Fellow announced and the gavel will be passed from Nate to Kathye. You don’t want to miss it. Cost: $13.85 per person. If you pre-pay your meals, you will not be charged but you will owe for your spouse/guest. If you don’t pre-pay you’ll owe $13.85 and will pay the same amount for your spouse/guest.
June 24 – 36th Annual Hospice Run Walk and Eat – Anne Sherman announced this event taking place at Blissfield High School. Registrants pay $35 to enter. Event will honor Dr. Bruce Jones who founded Hospice in Lenawee County.
June 29 – Joint Club Show & Dinner – What a great opportunity to see the Mama Mia production at the Croswell for $21 and even have dinner at Sauce beforehand with members of the Morning Rotary Club. Please contact Prez Nate if you go.
August 4 – Mud Hens Game with the AM Club – Please joint the Adrian Morning Rotary Club on this date to see a Mud Hens game in Toledo. Tickets are $31@which includes dinner (Burgers, dogs, desserts and soft drinks). DG-Elect, Paul Syncock, will be joining us that evening! Please contact Nancy Herr if you can go.
September 22 – Lenawee Bike Tour - If you cannot serve on the committee but can help out during the actual one-day event on Saturday, September 22nd, please send Chip an e-mail to let him know. This year’s event will be a “timed” event for the more serious riders and begin at the Armory! Along with that, something for families and children (like a “slow” ride and scavenger hunt) is being planned.

2018-19 RI President Barry Rassin wants Rotary members to Be the Inspiration
Rassin, a member of the Rotary Club of East Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas, unveiled the 2018-19 presidential theme, Be the Inspiration, to incoming district governors at Rotary’s International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA. “I want you to inspire in your clubs, your Rotarians, that desire for something greater. The drive to do more, to be more, to create something that will live beyond each of us.”
